Atlas
has produced HO Model FM H-16-44, numbers 2803 & 2804, and no number, in Zebra
paint.
ATSF had 20 of the H16-44's, but only the first
10 were of the early "Loewy" body & cab with the sill mounted handrails
design that Atlas has modeled.

Unnumered model
They were built
March-June 1951 as 2800-2809. However, these numbers interfered with the GP7s
that were being delivered so they were renumbered 3000-3009 between July and August,
1952. Therefore, the models numbered by Atlas are only prototypical for the Summer
1951-Summer 1952 time period. Prototype modelers for later time periods will want
to get the no-number engine and decal it for the 3000-3009 series. These are prototypical
until the end of the Zebra paint scheme, circa 1960.
The
model is highly detailed and includes cab interior and crew. It has a DCC decoder
installed but is set for cab control as delivered. Headlights and classification
lights change according to direction.
Generally theses
engines began operations on the coast lines in California and were moved to Kansas.

Does
anyone have any sightings in Kansas for 1953-54? When did these engines move east
from CA?
